The state of impermanence inevitably exists within nature. It is a slice of time, a rule within the universe. It does not predetermine itself, yet everywhere it follows hidden causes and conditions. It does not seek to please. It is simply an element, yet it must be carried through a grand process of accumulation and layering.
My present state is this: the deeper I think, the more I feel that everything is actually very simple. It is only when expressed in words that it must unfold into more and more description.
To express such a system completely and fully through the image—if a work can truly achieve that, then it must be first-rate.
And “first-rate” does not lie in being grand or profound. It lies simply in being pure, real, direct, sincere, and naturally formed.
Technique is only the necessary tool through which I complete such a work. The path is the longitude and latitude of my philosophy and ideas. The image itself is a visual diagram that enlarges this angle of aesthetic perception.
The greatness of the ancients lies in the fact that they had already seen through the principles and mysteries of the Way:
"To see a mountain as a mountain."
"To see a mountain as no longer a mountain."
"To see a mountain once again as a mountain,"
There is nothing wrong in this at all.
With such simplicity, they summarized the relationship between humanity and nature.
